Police in Thessaloniki arrested a 39-year-old Pakistani national who is alleged to have extorted his brother-in-law by demanding the sum of €11,000, according to reports by ERT.
Based on a complaint that was filed, the 39-year-old threatened to harm both his brother-in-law and his sister — who is the wife of the arrested man — in order to extort the sum of money.
As emerged from the investigation, the perpetrator cited housing and daily living expenses to justify his demand. A case file was opened against him for extortion and he is expected to be referred to the competent judicial authority.
