Police in Thessaloniki arrested a 39-year-old Pakistani national who allegedly extorted his brother-in-law by demanding the sum of €11,000, according to reports from Google News GR — Crime (el).

Based on the complaint that led to the arrest, the accused allegedly threatened to harm his brother-in-law as well as his sister — the arrested man's wife — if the money was not paid to him.

The 39-year-old allegedly cited needs relating to housing and daily living expenses as justification for his demand. A case file was opened against him for extortion and he is expected to be referred to the competent judicial authority.
