Skai.gr reports the official announcement from the Greek Police regarding the arrest of a 42-year-old foreign national, who appeared on Sunday afternoon with an electric chainsaw outside a house in the Drymós area of Thessaloniki.
According to authorities, the 42-year-old had previous disputes with a 49-year-old man. He went to the man's home, where the 49-year-old's wife was present, insulted her and held the chainsaw without putting it into operation.
His presence caused disturbance in the neighbourhood. Strong police forces rushed to the scene, and officers from the Crime Prevention and Suppression Unit proceeded with his arrest.
During a search, a knife was found in his possession, and it was established that he did not have the required legitimate residence documents for the country.
The Oraiokastro Police Department filed charges against him for threats and violations of weapons and immigration laws. The arrested person is to be brought before the competent prosecutor.
