A 50-year-old man is in custody after being arrested in Malia, Heraklion following a report by an 18-year-old British woman. The young woman alleged that she fell victim to sexual assault.
The incident reportedly took place in the early hours of Tuesday, 30 June, around 05:00. According to the report, the 18-year-old was returning to her accommodation when the suspect immobilised her and transported her to an isolated location.
The prosecution authorities were immediately mobilised, gathering testimony and examining visual material from surveillance cameras. On the basis of the findings, they proceeded with the arrest of the suspect.
Investigations are continuing for the full clarification of the case.
