A 56-year-old man was arrested in Athens, accused of breaches of legislation protecting cultural heritage and ancient objects.
Police officers from the Human Trafficking and Goods Trafficking Suppression Subdivision of the Organised Crime Directorate, utilising information that originated from the Ministry of Culture and following digital investigation, established that the suspect had illegally imported ancient coins and other objects from abroad.
The 56-year-old was in possession of the ancient finds and was attempting to sell them through a well-known social media platform. During the investigation that followed, the illegal items were located and seized.
