A 58-year-old tenant has been arrested in Heraklion, Crete, accused of attacking an 8-year-old boy in the presence of his 11-year-old brother, following a complaint filed by their mother.

A 58-year-old man has been detained in Heraklion, Crete, as he is accused of attacking a minor aged 8. The incident took place in a village in the interior, when the mother of the two children was absent from the home.
The woman filed a complaint with the police, stating that the property tenant entered the house in the afternoon of Monday, 29 June 2026. There, according to the complaint, he attacked the younger child, whilst the older child, aged 11, was present. The exact circumstances of the attack are under investigation.
The prosecutor has brought charges for attempted murder and assault. The 58-year-old will be brought before an investigating magistrate next Friday.
