Police officers arrested a 64-year-old man in Rethymno following an operation in a mountainous area of Mylopótamos Municipality, where four cannabis plantations with 31 seedlings were discovered.

Police forces proceeded with the arrest of a 64-year-old man in Rethymno, following an organised operation in a mountainous zone of Mylopótamos Municipality. The operation is part of broader efforts to combat the illegal cultivation of psychotropic substances.

In the course of the operation, initial investigations revealed four separate cultivation sites, where a total of 31 seedlings were being grown. The plants were in a development phase and their height ranged up to two metres. The 64-year-old is believed to have been involved in the management of these cultivations.

Additionally, during searches conducted at his residence and other locations he used, a small quantity of dried cannabis was discovered and seized, along with two hunting rifles, an air rifle, and metal detection devices.

The investigation of the case has been undertaken by the Narcotics Prosecution Division of the local Security Sub-Directorate.
