A 64-year-old Albanian national was arrested in Attica following searches of his home and business premises, where cocaine, cannabis and packaging equipment were found.

Coast Guard officers serving in the Regional Drug Prosecution Unit, in cooperation with colleagues from the Special Operations Team of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus, proceeded with the arrest of a 64-year-old man of Albanian nationality for violation of legislation concerning narcotic substances.

The operation took place yesterday afternoon, following the evaluation of information that had been gathered. Initially, officers acting under a prosecutor's order and with the assistance of a trained dog named "Kelly" searched the suspect's residence. The house was being used as a storage and packaging point for illegal substances.

The following items were found and seized at the location: 1.7 grams of cocaine, 306 grams of raw cannabis, 190 grams of processed cannabis in chocolate form, as well as traces of cocaine on an empty driving licence and a plate.

In parallel, objects used for the preparation and packaging of narcotics were located: a precision scale, a heat-sealing device, transparent plastic sheeting, special airtight closure containers, tape and two mobile phones.

In a second search at a business premises managed by the arrested individual in an area of Attica, 3,000 euros in cash were seized. The findings will be sent to the State General Chemical Laboratory for laboratory examination.

The preliminary investigation is being conducted by the Central Port Authority of Piraeus.
