OPPE officers arrest 24-year-old leader of criminal organisation in Western Attica

Exclusive video footage captured by Mega showed a police operation in Western Attica, with heavily armed OPPE officers breaching a house using a battering ram, according to Newsit.gr.

The 24-year-old target, a leader of a criminal organisation against whom an arrest warrant was pending for robberies, thefts and burglaries, noticed the presence of the police officers and attempted to flee. He jumped from the balcony onto the roof of an adjacent building, where police officers followed him and immobilised him. The arrest was carried out in front of the camera, and authorities immediately checked him for illegal weapons possession.

At the same time, metres away, a second operation was conducted to arrest his accomplice. Reinforcements arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area.

The operation was not limited to the arrests: a specialist team cut cables totalling 10 kilometres as part of investigations into electricity theft, resulting in 62 power cuts. A total of 10 arrests were made.

A specially trained dog from EL.AS. participated in the large-scale operation, whilst a drone from the General Police Directorate of Attica broadcast footage in real time to the operations centre.
