An officer of the Hellenic Police was arrested following a complaint of assault on a person in custody at a police station in Attica.

On the evening of Saturday, 27 June 2026, a police officer of the Hellenic Police serving as a supervisor at a police station in Attica was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a person held in the police cells.
Colleagues present at the scene immediately notified the Internal Affairs Service, which proceeded with the lawful procedures. Following notification of the Public Prosecutor, the officer in question was arrested in flagrante delicto and brought before the judiciary.
After the procedure was completed, the police officer was released, whilst a preliminary investigation was ordered to examine potential criminal liability. The detainee was transferred to a judicial medical examiner for examination.
The Hellenic Police Headquarters ordered a Sworn Administrative Inquiry to investigate the circumstances of the incident and to establish disciplinary responsibility if warranted. In a statement, the Force stated that it treats with rigour every complaint of unlawful or unethical conduct by its personnel and implements immediately all prescribed procedures.
