45-year-old Bulgarian arrested in Polygiros on embezzlement charges
Police in Chalkidiki have arrested a 45-year-old Bulgarian citizen on a European arrest warrant for embezzlement of approximately €100,000 through an online vehicle trading platform.

Police officers from the Chalkidiki Crime Investigation and Detection Subdirectorate have arrested a 45-year-old Bulgarian citizen in Polygiros following the execution of a European arrest warrant issued by Bulgarian authorities. According to Dikastiko.gr, the man is accused of embezzling a sum of approximately €100,000.
According to information available, the embezzlement is alleged to have been committed during the period October–November 2025. An online platform providing vehicle-related services was used as the means — motor vehicle sales and the processing of related documentation.
As reported by ERT, Bulgarian authorities were mobilised following complaints by citizens and services. Arrest of the suspect at the moment of apprehension was not possible, with the result that a European arrest warrant was issued.
The 45-year-old was located in Polygiros, where he is reported to have been residing recently. Following his arrest, he was taken to the Court of Appeal Prosecutor's office, to the competent issuing department, in order to begin the process of his handover to Bulgaria, where the authorities seek to have him stand trial.
The further development of the case depends on the suspect's position: if he consents to his extradition, the process proceeds directly; if he refuses, the competent judicial panel is called upon to decide.
