Two arrested during cocaine transaction in Ilion – 61-year-old woman and 50-year-old man in custody

Two individuals were arrested on the afternoon of Wednesday 2 September in Ilion and Peristeri, accused of cocaine possession and distribution. According to Newsbeast, the operation was conducted by the Narcotics Prosecution Subdirectorate of the Organised Crime Countermeasures Division.

Police focus was on a 61-year-old woman, who is alleged to have had an active role in local drug distribution. The Hellenic Police, following the gathering of information, cross-referencing of data and profiling, launched an operation aimed at terminating her activities.

The woman was located in an area of Ilion at the moment she is alleged to have just handed over drugs to a 50-year-old man. During the check, the 50-year-old is alleged to have attempted to dispose of the quantity he had in his possession, without result – police officers immediately proceeded to arrest both individuals.

What was seized

During a body search of the 61-year-old, additional quantities of cocaine were found, packaged in a manner which, according to the Hellenic Police, suggested direct distribution. Subsequently a search was carried out at her residence, where a total of over 100 grammes of cocaine was seized, along with scales and packaging materials. Authorities are examining this evidence as indications of organised trafficking activity.

Both arrested individuals are known to police for similar and other offences in the past. They are expected to be brought before the competent prosecutor's office, which will decide on the next steps of criminal proceedings.
