Two young people, aged 17 and 18, have been arrested in Chios for five cases of burglaries and thefts from homes in the village of Lagkada, with stolen goods exceeding €16,000.

Police authorities in Chios have arrested two individuals, a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old, who are suspected of being responsible for five incidents of breaking and entering into residences in the village of Lagkada. The incidents occurred during the period from late April to mid-May of the current year.

The investigation that led to the arrests was conducted by the Chios Crimes Prosecution Service with the assistance of the Criminal Investigation Bureau of the local police. According to authorities, the two perpetrators broke into five homes that were empty, as their owners were absent from the island or had passed away.

To breach the entrances, they used tools such as a crowbar, screwdriver, and sledgehammer. In two cases, they managed to remove cash totalling €12,000, jewellery, valuables, and various other items, with a combined value exceeding €4,000. Additionally, they caused damage to the homes estimated at more than €2,000.

A 42-year-old man is also implicated in the case, accused of purchasing the stolen jewellery from the two young people, giving them €4,000. The parents of the minor perpetrator are accused of failure to supervise.
