Arrest for human trafficking in Boeotia – 8 migrants in state of modern slavery
A foreign national was arrested in Boeotia on Friday for human trafficking and labour exploitation of eight migrants who worked without payment.

Police officers from the Department for the Prosecution and Investigation of Crime in Thebes arrested a foreign national in flagrante delicto in Boeotia on Friday, 11 September, accused of human trafficking and labour exploitation. News247.gr reports that the victims — eight foreign nationals — were located in a house in the area following an organised operation conducted on the basis of information obtained.
According to evidence from the police investigation, the accused and unknown associates forced the victims to work continuously as agricultural workers in the fields. They did not pay them their earned wages, did not permit them a single day of rest, and confiscated their travel documents, thereby depriving them of any possibility of leaving.
The arrested man is to be brought before the Public Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance of Boeotia — Parallel Office of Thebes. Police investigations are continuing in order to locate and identify his associates.
