Since the morning of Tuesday 6 October 2026, a major operation by the Economic Crimes Prosecution has been underway in areas of Attica, according to Newsit.gr. The aim is to dismantle a criminal organisation alleged to have perpetrated fraud against e-EFKA, with total damage to the public purse exceeding €5 million.
Among the 8 arrested are LAOS president Filippos Kamouris and his spouse. According to the findings of the investigation, the ring had been active since 2021: companies were opened in the names of straw men, which were subsequently closed without insurance contributions having been paid to EFKA.
The damage attributed solely to EFKA exceeds €1 million, whilst the total damage to the public purse exceeds €5 million. Additionally, members of the organisation face charges relating to tax evasion.
Among the 8 arrested are accountants, businesspeople, and the straw men used to open the companies. The operation is still ongoing and the police are expected to issue further updates regarding the action and members of the organisation.
