Police made an arrest of a 52-year-old man in Petralona following reports from citizens on Thursday afternoon. According to newsbeast.gr, the arrested person allegedly exposed himself publicly in a residential area.
At least two residents contacted the Emergency Response Centre, describing an individual moving through the streets with a provocative appearance. The descriptions mentioned a man in dark clothing, a hat and a beard, who had exposed himself in a public place.
A police team arrived at the scene and made the arrest. The man claimed to be a priest. In a subsequent investigation, it was found that he maintains a strong presence on social media, with thousands of followers on profiles he manages.
According to information, the arrested man belongs to a Patriarchate outside Greece. He studied theology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and has also completed studies at the French Institute of Athens. He is originally from an island in the Cyclades.
The 52-year-old was taken before the judicial authorities for further proceedings.
