Ten Panathinaikos supporters were arrested by officials from the Athletic Violence unit during an extensive operation conducted yesterday (1/7/2026) at multiple locations in Attica. Criminal charges have been brought against them for participation in a criminal organisation.

According to reporting by Newsit, members of the group allegedly attacked supporters of rival clubs and distributed illegal substances. Their involvement in attacks with Molotov cocktails and improvised explosive devices is also under investigation.

The case file indicates that a total of 39 people are implicated. The serious charges include formation of a criminal organisation, arson, explosion endangering human lives, manufacture and possession of explosives, attempted manslaughter, assault, damage to others' property, robbery, extortion, illegal firearms possession, possession and distribution of drugs, as well as violations of sporting regulations.

Footage released to the public shows masked individuals setting fires to shops and causing disruption on central streets in Athens. In other footage, dozens of people wearing dark clothing are seen interrupting traffic and clashing with each other.

The relevant authorities continue their investigations for a complete clarification of the case.
