'Dan' caught at relative's home following warrant

A 22-year-old who is believed to have supplied MDMA to the 20-year-old woman who died several days ago in Thessaloniki has been arrested by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation — the so-called "Greek FBI". According to Newsbeast, the young man was already known to the Hellenic Police Force for drug trafficking and operated on the streets under the nickname "Dan".

Authorities located him at a residence belonging to a relative, where a search uncovered quantities of MDMA and other narcotic substances. The arrest was made in execution of a warrant issued immediately after he was identified.

The thread that led to the arrest of the 22-year-old began to unravel following the arrest of the 20-year-old victim's friend. He told police that he and the 20-year-old had obtained the narcotic substance from that particular dealer. Based on this statement, investigators from the "Greek FBI" searched for "Dan" in known drug distribution locations and eventually found him.

A case file is expected to be compiled against the 22-year-old and he is to be brought before the courts over the woman's death. The 20-year-old friend has already been referred to the 5th investigating magistrate of Thessaloniki.

According to the Hellenic Police Force, in the early hours of Saturday, the two young people were at a premises of public health interest in eastern Thessaloniki, where they obtained MDMA and used it. The 20-year-old lost consciousness at the premises, was transferred to hospital, and died the following morning.
