Pursuit and arrest of Turkish national on Samos with forged documents for migrants
Port Police Security officials on Samos arrested a Turkish national who allegedly carried forged travel documents intended to be handed over to foreign migrants, according to Ta Nea.
The man arrived on Samos on a flight from Athens. Security officials, acting on prior information about his movements, discreetly monitored him from the moment of his arrival at the airport.
The surveillance continued into the town of Samos, where the arrested man allegedly met with individuals to whom he intended to hand over the forged documents. A pursuit followed through the town's streets, which ended in his arrest.
During the operation, the disputed documents were located and seized, and are now being examined by the competent authorities.
Investigations are now focusing on the origin of the forged travel documents and the possibility that the arrested man is connected to a wider network operating in their distribution. In parallel, the role of other persons who may be implicated in the case is being examined.
The arrest is part of the operational activities of the Port Police Security on Samos to locate and counter organised criminal networks on the island.
