A man is being held by authorities following a fatal incident in Kallithea. The suspect is alleged to have admitted his involvement in the incident that cost the life of a 17-year-old.
On Thursday evening, shortly before midnight, an altercation occurred involving approximately ten people. The minor was struck with a sharp object in the chest area, resulting in critical injuries.
EKAB rescue personnel arrived at the scene and immediately transported the injured youth to Hippokration Hospital. Doctors made efforts, however the injuries proved fatal and the young man succumbed after a short period of time.
In the course of the investigations that followed, police proceeded with 14 detentions of individuals from the wider area. During the investigations a knife was located, which was likely used as a weapon during the altercation. The object was seized and will be subjected to laboratory analysis to identify genetic material and fingerprints.
The prosecuting authorities are investigating the causes that led to the altercation, without ruling out any scenario, including that of fan-related differences.
