According to hcg.gr, the Hellenic Coastguard-Hellenic Coast Guard (LS-ELAKT) carried out a series of operations at various locations across the country within the same 24-hour period, resulting in three arrests, the rescue of 52 foreign nationals and the discovery of a woman's body at sea.
Mykonos: arrest of captain of Turkish sailing vessel
In the early morning hours, a private individual notified the Port Authority of Mykonos about foreign nationals in the area of "Agrari". Coastguard personnel located three foreign nationals — aged 61, 27 and 27 — who stated that they had arrived by a Turkish-flagged sailing vessel that had broken from its moorings south of Mykonos. Checks revealed that all three had entered the country illegally.
The sailing vessel was found unmanned. The passenger-tourist vessel "KYRIARCHOS V" towed it to Naxos marina, where it was moored. The Port Authority of Mykonos, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, arrested one of the two 27-year-olds as captain for illegal entry into the country and dangerous interference with maritime navigation.
South of Crete: rescue of 52 people with Frontex
The Unified Search and Rescue Coordination Centre (EKSED) alerted the Port Authorities of Ierapetra and Kalos Limenes about a dinghy with foreign nationals in distress, 56 nautical miles south-east of Kalos Limenes. The vessel had been located by an unmanned aircraft of the Frontex force.
A coastguard patrol vessel collected 52 foreign nationals — 49 men and 3 minors. They were initially transferred to Kalos Limenes and subsequently to the port of Heraklion, accompanied by personnel from the Special Missions Unit of the Central Port Authority of Heraklion and police officers. The case is being handled by the Central Port Authority of Heraklion.
Nea Moudhania: 84-year-old Serbian woman found dead
In the afternoon hours, the Port Authority of Nea Moudhania was notified of the recovery of an 84-year-old Serbian national without signs of life in the sea off Chranioti beach in the Municipality of Kassandra. An ambulance from EKAB transferred her to Kassandreian Health Centre, where her death was confirmed. The 2nd Coastguard Department of Nea Moudhania has ordered an autopsy at the Forensic Service in Thessaloniki.
Perama: arrest of 75-year-old for domestic violence
Yesterday afternoon, personnel from the Port Authority of Perama arrested a 75-year-old Greek citizen following a complaint from a 53-year-old local for violation of the domestic violence law and threats. The offences took place in Perama, Attica, and the preliminary investigation is being conducted by the 4th Coastguard Department of Perama of the Central Port Authority of Piraeus.
Lavrio: German passenger injured in the face
In the afternoon hours, a 63-year-old German passenger on a Greek passenger-tourist vessel fell from the stern into the sea during mooring operations at Lavrio port, sustaining facial injuries. He was initially transferred to Lavrio Health Centre and then to "Hippocrates" General Hospital for further treatment.
Maliakos Gulf: seizure of illegal fishing equipment
In the early morning hours, a coastguard patrol vessel located and seized fishing equipment deployed in the sea in the "Livari" area of Maliakos Gulf without any catches. A fishing vessel with two Greek fishermen approached the location, and one of them claimed ownership of the equipment. The Port Authority of Stylis initiated proceedings to impose administrative penalties.
