Two people have been arrested in Zephyri for thefts using the distraction method, with stolen goods worth €27,000 found in their possession.

Police officers proceeded to arrest two people in Zephyri who are implicated in theft cases. They are a 66-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man who are related to each other.
The two suspects are accused of operating using the distraction method, whilst also facing charges of receiving and distributing proceeds of crime. The operation was carried out with the assistance of police officers from OPKE.
In searches conducted at the residences of the accused, the following were found and seized: stolen jewellery and ornaments, €27,030 in cash, 1,100 US dollars, ammunition, an identity document that had been reported as lost, as well as surveillance equipment with two cameras and a recording device.
According to the authorities, associates of those arrested posed as employees of an electricity company and took jewellery, money and a mobile phone from a woman in Vari on 25 June. Following preliminary investigations, police officers managed to locate the two main suspects.
Part of the jewellery found has already been returned to the rightful owner. The arrested individuals were taken before the prosecutor, with investigations continuing to locate the remaining members of the group.
