Operations by officials of the Coast Guard resulted in three arrests for cannabis possession and illegal weapons possession in two cities of northern Greece.

Three men were arrested in checks carried out by officials of the Coast Guard in Thessaloniki and Kavala, accused of possession of raw cannabis and illegal weapons possession.
In the co-capital, officers from the Regional Narcotics Prosecution Unit of the Central Port Authority, following a coordinated operation with the corresponding office in Kavala, proceeded to arrest two Greeks aged 30 and 50 respectively. In a search conducted on the younger man, a plastic package containing five grammes of cannabis plant extracts was found, which he had purchased from a grocery shop in the Xirokrini area.
At the same shop, owned by the 50-year-old, initial investigations revealed additional illegal material. When police moved to a second shop of the same suspect in Polichni, he voluntarily handed over a 9-millimetre blank-firing pistol, one magazine and four blank-flash cartridges.
The findings were seized by the Central Port Authority of Thessaloniki, which is conducting the preliminary investigation.
In Kavala, officials from the local Narcotics Prosecution Office arrested a 19-year-old Greek shortly before the departure of a passenger ship bound for Thassos. During a check at the port, a nylon package containing 84.7 grammes of raw cannabis was found in his possession. The substance was seized and will be sent to the Chemical Services Department of the area for further analysis.
The incidents were announced by the Coast Guard – Hellenic Coast Guard.
