Drug arrests in Thessaloniki – 1.68 kilograms of cannabis seized
Two men were arrested in Xerokrynei, Thessaloniki, with 1.68 kilograms of cannabis. Two cannabis plants were discovered in Rethymno with dozens of seedlings.

According to kanaliena.gr, officers from the Immediate Response Drug Unit of the Directorate for the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes in Thessaloniki arrested two men aged 70 and 61 in the Xerokrynei area on the afternoon of 13 August 2026, immediately following a drug transaction between them.
During the search, 1 kilogramme and 680.4 grammes of unprocessed cannabis were seized, divided into 30 makeshift packages ready for distribution, along with 1,120 empty plastic packaging materials for drug distribution and the mobile telephone of the 70-year-old, which he used for his communications.
Part of the seized quantity was found hidden in a motorcycle owned by the 70-year-old. The remaining quantity was located at his residence, where a search was conducted in the presence of a judicial representative. The two arrested individuals will be brought before the competent prosecutor with the case file compiled against them.
In parallel, officers from the Drug Prosecution Unit of the Subdirectorate for the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes in Rethymno, in cooperation with the Milopótamos Police Operations Unit, conducted a coordinated search operation in an agricultural area near Agios Syllas in the mountainous region of Milopótamos. Two cannabis plants with dozens of seedlings were located there.
The preliminary investigation into the Rethymno case is being conducted by the Drug Prosecution Unit of the Subdirectorate for the Prosecution and Investigation of Crimes in Rethymno.
