Greek police have arrested three people for the arson attack on the home of conservative politician Aphrodite Nestor, resulting in the death of her 72-year-old mother.

Greek police have arrested three people suspected of carrying out an arson attack on the home of conservative politician Aphrodite Nestor in Thessaloniki. In the attack, which took place in the early morning of 1 July, the politician's 72-year-old mother died from fatal burns. Four other people were injured.
The perpetrators set fire to vehicles in the garage of the apartment building where the politician lived, causing the fire to spread. Nestor is a member of the ruling party New Democracy.
Ten days after the attack, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced in parliament that the authorities had kept their promise to find and arrest those responsible. He emphasised that the state would continue to confront decisively those who attempt to sow fear in society through violence.
In recent years Greece has been repeatedly affected by politically motivated violence. Although previous terrorist organisations have largely been dismantled, autonomous groups continue to carry out arson attacks and explosions, targeting politicians, state services, police stations, banks and businesses.
