Eight people arrested for thefts and frauds impersonating state service employees
Eight members of a criminal group have been arrested in Attica, accused of dozens of burglaries and frauds with unlawful proceeds exceeding €440,000.

Eight people are now in the hands of authorities, following an operation conducted by the Organised Crime Countermeasures Directorate in areas of Kallithea, Petralona and Western Attica, from the night of Monday (29/6) until the morning of Tuesday (30/6).
The arrested individuals are believed to have formed a structured group operating at least since October 2025. According to the findings of the investigation, group members impersonated employees of DEDDIE or the Tax Service, defrauding citizens to extract money and valuable items from them.
During searches of ten residences, a shop and other premises, various items were found and seized. Police officers established that the accused had never had legitimate professional employment. Some did not even have a tax identification number, whilst others declared zero income, living exclusively from the proceeds of their unlawful activities.
To cover their tracks, the perpetrators carried out frequent car sales and other transactions. In this way they attempted to legitimise their unlawful profits, introducing them into the legitimate economy through a front company.
To date, authorities have clarified 44 cases of home invasions and 14 instances of fraud using the employment method. The total unlawful proceeds are estimated to exceed €440,000.
The eight arrested individuals were taken before the Prosecutor, whilst investigations continue to establish the full extent of the criminal activity. It is noted that some of them have previously engaged the attention of authorities for similar offences and restrictive conditions have been imposed against them, some of which remain in force.
