Two foreign nationals were arrested in Igoumenitsa on suspicion of transporting a woman who had entered Greece illegally.

Police officers from the Ioannina region proceeded to arrest two foreign nationals in Igoumenitsa as part of checks to combat human trafficking networks.
During a vehicle inspection that had been hired, authorities established that the driver was transporting a woman from the same country of origin. The passenger had crossed the border without the necessary documents and was found to be travelling towards Lefkada.
According to reporting by ERT ertnews.gr, the woman had been picked up from an area near the border with Albania. The driver faces felony charges for violations of the foreigners law, whilst the vehicle used for the transportation was seized.
The two arrested individuals were brought before the prosecutorial authorities of Thesprotia for further proceedings.
