Clash involving minors in Toumpa: arrest of 15-year-old and hospitalisation of 14-year-old
A new incident of violence among minors occurred in Toumpa, Thessaloniki, on Tuesday afternoon, 26 May, according to reports by huffingtonpost.gr.
According to police sources, a 15-year-old initially struck a 13-year-old. The situation escalated with the involvement of more young people, resulting in a 14-year-old being punched in the face and back by a person whose identity remains unknown and who is being sought. The 14-year-old was transferred to a Thessaloniki hospital, where he is being treated. The 15-year-old was arrested by the Greek Police.
The mother of the arrested 15-year-old disputes the events as they are being presented. "My child went out to play football and saw two brothers arguing with a friend of theirs. He went to ask what had happened and then they attacked him. They started chasing him with iron and a belt to hit him. To defend himself he picked up a piece of wood," she claims. She adds that a friend of her son attempted to intervene, but the commotion continued and as a result one of those involved was struck.
An investigation is being conducted by the Greek Police into the incident in order to clarify the circumstances of the clash and the degree of involvement of each of those involved.
