A 64-year-old man, owner of a kiosk in the Omonia district, was arrested by officers from the Athens Security Sub-Directorate, accused of trafficking in narcotic substances.
According to a statement from the Hellenic Police, authorities had information that the particular kiosk owner had converted his shop into a drug sales point. During the search carried out at the kiosk, quantities of raw cannabis, cocaine and heroin were found and seized.
The narcotics had been hidden in various locations within the shop, with the aim of not being noticed by passers-by. The police officers who carried out the operation located the substances and proceeded with the arrest of the 64-year-old.
In addition to the narcotics, a sum of money was also seized, which is believed to be the proceeds of illegal activity. The arrested man was taken to the Misdemeanour Prosecutor's Office of Athens.
