Two men have had charges filed against them for telephone fraud in a village in Kilkis, in which €24,000 and jewellery were stolen from an elderly woman.

The Department for the Investigation and Prosecution of Crimes in Kilkis has solved a telephone fraud that took place on 27 September 2026 in a village in the area, targeting an elderly woman. According to Dikastiko.gr, charges have been filed against two men in connection with the case, whose details have been identified.
According to the investigation, a woman accomplice of the two suspects called the elderly woman's landline telephone, presenting herself as an employee of the tax authority. She claimed that a large fine was pending against the woman and asked her to gather her money and jewellery from her home in a bag, leaving it at a point outside her house.
The elderly woman complied with the instructions. The two men collected the bag and fled on a motorcycle, having stolen €24,000 along with jewellery.
The police investigation is continuing both to identify the woman accomplice and to investigate the possible involvement of the suspects in other similar cases.
