Death of 20-year-old from MDMA in Thessaloniki: arrest and felony charges against her friend
In the early hours of Saturday, at an events venue in Thessaloniki hosting an electronic music party, a 20-year-old woman lost consciousness following the use of MDMA narcotics. She was transported to a hospital in the city, where despite the efforts of doctors she died a few hours later, according to reports from Ethnos.
Police officers from the Crime Investigation and Detection Division of Thermi arrested her 20-year-old friend. Felony charges were brought against him for causing death through dangerous drug use, as well as misdemeanour charges for supplying, possession and use of narcotic substances. He was referred to appear before the 5th Special Investigating Judge for Narcotics in Thessaloniki and remains in custody pending his appearance. Police investigations continue to identify the person who distributed the specific narcotic substance.
Father speaks about the past and seeks justice
"We will do everything possible to find them, so that no other children find themselves in this position, so that no other parents find themselves in our position," stated Konstantinos Adam, father of the 20-year-old. He noted that the arrested friend of his daughter had known her since primary school at a private school. According to him, a similar incident had occurred three years previously involving the same man: "Again they called us from Hippocrates Hospital with our daughter in a semi-conscious state," he said characteristically.
The family's lawyer, Antonis Koudroglos, stressed that the case presented "exceptionally suspicious circumstances". "A young woman, a young man was lost again through the use of dangerous narcotic substances. The family is determined to investigate everything. An only child was lost. All those responsible for this case must be found and punished," said Koudroglos.
