Three people have been arrested by the Counter-Terrorism Service for the arson attack on the Nestor family home in Thessaloniki, which resulted in the death of Vagia Nestor. The arrests were made on Friday.
During investigations conducted at the scene of the attacks, parts of three improvised explosive-incendiary devices were found and seized. Following further investigations, the details of the three suspects were identified.
The arrested individuals consist of two men aged 29 and 24, and one 26-year-old woman. The 29-year-old man and the 26-year-old woman were identified as the direct perpetrators of the arson attack. The 24-year-old is accused of providing his home as a base and hideout.
The apartment of the 24-year-old is located in close proximity to the Nestor family residence. The two alleged direct perpetrators remained there over the previous 24 hours, and returned after the arson operation, where they changed clothes before departing.
The 26-year-old woman, who originates from Athens and resides in Thessaloniki, had been remanded in custody in February 2022 for a case concerning her alleged participation in an anti-establishment organisation. After the attack she travelled to Chania, where she was located and arrested.
Investigations are continuing to identify other individuals who may be involved in the case.
