Thessaloniki: 17 years' imprisonment for 40-year-old man convicted of rape and spousal abuse
The Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki has sentenced a 40-year-old man to 17 years' imprisonment for rape and domestic violence against his 30-year-old wife.

According to ERT, the Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki imposed a sentence of 17 years' imprisonment at midday on a 40-year-old man, finding him guilty of five offences against his 30-year-old wife.
The court convicted him of rape, causing dangerous bodily harm, domestic assault against conjugal dignity, domestic threats, and committing the acts in front of minors.
According to the indictment, the 40-year-old beat his wife daily, and for at least two years forced her to submit to his sexual desires despite her refusal. The scenes of domestic violence took place in front of their minor children.
The family had emigrated from Albania and had moved to Greece two years prior. The 30-year-old reported her ordeal to the authorities in early March 2024, after fleeing with her children to her sister's house.
