Thessaloniki: Hospital transfer for politician following incendiary attack
A change of medical facility has been decided for New Democracy candidate for Parliament Aphroditi Nestora, who suffered serious injuries when unknown persons set fire to the apartment building where she lives in the Análepsi area.
The politician was transferred to the General Hospital of Thessaloniki "Papanikolaou", leaving behind Hippokrateio Hospital where she was initially admitted. She is now in the Burns Unit, where attending doctors are closely monitoring her condition. Her injuries are located on her hands and feet and are degrees one and two. According to reporting by Efsyn, Nestora is breathing on her own, without assistance from devices.
At the same time, her father, Panagiotis Nestora, remains at Hippokrateio Hospital. The elderly man experienced breathing difficulties due to the fumes and is expected to be discharged soon. Another resident of the building is also being treated in the same ward, who is likewise expected to receive discharge instructions.
By contrast, another female neighbour who initially received discharge from the Pulmonology Clinic ultimately needed to be transferred to the Intensive Care Unit of Hippokrateio Hospital for cardiac issues.
The attack had a tragic outcome for the politician's mother, Vaia Nestora, who lost her life in the incident. Prosecution authorities continue their efforts to identify those responsible.
