The owner of the house on Papadiamanth Street, which is alleged to have been used as a base before and after the arson attack in Thessaloniki, denies any participation in the crime that cost Vagia Nestor her life.
In statements to MEGA, the 24-year-old claimed that his only connection to the case is the provision of keys to a property that belongs to his family and has been seized by a financial institution. As he stated, the keys were given to individuals from his close circle who have not been charged, whilst he ruled out any acquaintance with the other two defendants.
"I am deeply sorry for what happened. I do not know them at all and I will tell the whole truth before the examining magistrate," he said.
Three suspects have been brought in connection with the attack: a 29-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, who are considered the direct perpetrators and are known to the prosecuting authorities, as well as the 24-year-old owner. The three were taken to the prosecutor with increased security measures and were given a deadline for the coming Tuesday.
According to information, the authorities believe that the three arson incidents that took place on the same day in the co-capital within a time frame of less than 20 minutes were carried out by two separate groups. Investigations continue to locate potentially other accomplices.
