Criminal proceedings have been initiated against two employees of a care centre for people with disabilities who forgot a minor with special needs for two hours inside a vehicle in Thessaloniki.

Two people working at a day care centre for people with special needs in Thessaloniki have been referred to trial under summary proceedings, as they are accused of leaving a minor alone for two hours inside a bus, according to reports by ERT.
The case came to light following a complaint filed by the girl's mother. The 17-year-old, who has mobility problems, was being transported by the centre's vehicle to the eastern side of the city. The driver, a 58-year-old man, and the attendant, a 46-year-old woman, are alleged to have failed to drop her off at her destination.
The incident occurred in the early part of the week. The minor's mother, concerned about the delay, contacted the authorities. Police officers located the bus and ascertained that the girl was still inside, unsupervised, for nearly two hours.
The Deputy Prosecutor of the Misdemeanour Court in Thessaloniki initiated proceedings against the two employees for exposing a minor to danger jointly. The defendants were brought before the Single-Member Misdemeanour Court under summary proceedings.
The care centre for people with disabilities where the two defendants worked is responsible for transporting people with disabilities on a daily basis. This particular incident has caused considerable concern among parents of residents at the institution.
