Thessaloniki: Attack with incendiary devices at apartment building – woman dead, daughter injured
A woman lost her life and her daughter was injured following an attack with incendiary devices at an apartment building in Thessaloniki. The incident occurred when a fire alarm was activated inside the building.
The victim's husband, Panagiotis Nestoras, spoke to ERT about the moments that followed. As he said, when they heard the alarm, his wife Vagia went down to the ground floor to see if something had happened to their car. He was at the entrance of the house and went to answer the phone.
The couple's daughter, Aphroditi Nestora, who is a New Democracy politician, attempted to help her mother. From this attempt she suffered serious injuries to her limbs. Her father stated that his daughter cannot walk and has burns on her hands and feet. He himself is experiencing breathing problems from the smoke and is undergoing medical examinations.
Panagiotis Nestoras published an emotional message on social media about his wife. He bid farewell to her as a heroine of life, a companion of 47 years and a mother. As he wrote, Vagia went to find their other daughter, Nikoleta, to tell her news about her son.
Nestoras stated that he will remain strong with Aphroditi despite the tragedy that struck the family. "We will stand strong. We must show that we are strong," he said with an emotional voice.
He expressed his anger towards the perpetrators. "They must be found and tried. Whoever carries an incendiary device is a murderer. It is a weapon like a bullet," he stressed.
