Thessaloniki: Discharge for Aphrodite Nestora following arson attack that killed her mother
Aphrodite Nestora, a New Democracy official, was discharged on Thursday from the "G. Papanikolaou" healthcare facility in Thessaloniki, where she had been admitted since 2 July. Her hospitalisation resulted from an attack with flammable material that she suffered within her home, with the tragic toll being the death of her mother, Vagia.
The hospital's medical statement noted that her health progress was stable with progressive recovery. Taking the current clinical picture into account, extension of her hospitalisation was not deemed necessary and the patient was discharged in satisfactory general condition.
Ms Nestora sustained burn injuries to her hands and feet. Throughout her stay, the medical team applied the appropriate supportive treatment. She will henceforth be monitored closely at the plastic surgery outpatient clinics.
The attack, which occurred on 2 July in Thessaloniki, had a tragic outcome, as Aphrodite Nestora's mother lost her life. The police authorities are conducting an investigation to locate and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
