A 29-year-old woman was referred to the prosecutor, accused of injuring her 24-year-old partner with blades in a residence in Upper Town.
The woman is from Romania and was arrested by police from the Criminal Investigation Department of the White Tower. She is charged with attempted murder, domestic violence and illegal possession of weapons.
The incident allegedly took place yesterday morning, around ten o'clock, in a ground-floor apartment. Following a heated altercation, the accused woman is alleged to have seized two knives and attacked the young man.
The 24-year-old suffered injuries to the chest, abdomen and hand. An ambulance transported him urgently to Papanikolaou Hospital, where he underwent surgery. He remains hospitalised, with doctors estimating that his condition no longer gives cause for concern.
Authorities seized the two knives the woman is alleged to have used, whilst a forensic examination has been ordered to fully document the victim's injuries.
