Police arrested a 44-year-old foreign national in Thessaloniki who illegally transported eight people without travel documents.

A 44-year-old man, an Albanian national, was arrested yesterday morning by police in Thessaloniki. Officers from the Migration Management Department stopped him for a check on the national road towards Kavala, near the Analepsi toll booths.
During the check, it was established that eight passengers were in the car he was driving. These were individuals from countries including Afghanistan, Iraq, Burkina Faso and Eritrea, who did not have legal documentation with them to be in Greece.
According to the authorities, the passengers had likely crossed the Evros region. The 44-year-old was taken before the prosecutor, while police seized the vehicle and a mobile telephone found in his possession.
