At the Doirani border crossing in Kilkis, police officers proceeded to arrest a 30-year-old from Kosovo. The man had been identified by the SIS (Schengen Information System) as a European arrest warrant had been issued against him by Croatian authorities.

The charge he faces concerns the illegal trafficking of persons. According to the indictment, in 2020 he is alleged to have facilitated the entry of four fellow countrymen onto Croatian territory and subsequently their exit to another European country.

Following his arrest the previous Saturday, he was taken to the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Court of Appeal in Thessaloniki. There it was decided to remand him in custody pending a decision by the Court of Appeal on the extradition request submitted by Croatian authorities.

The 30-year-old, before the Greek judicial authorities, stated that he does not wish to be extradited to Croatia to stand trial.
