On Thursday afternoon, a passerby found a 13-year-old child crying unaccompanied on a street in Toumba in Thessaloniki. The citizen immediately notified the authorities.
Officers from the local crimes division took over the case and located the child's mother. She is a 47-year-old woman of Iraqi origin, who was found and arrested. She was prosecuted for child abandonment and endangering a minor.
The minor was provisionally handed over to a family member, where he will remain until the legal procedures are completed.
