Prosecutors have made three arrests in connection with arson attacks and the murder of Vagia Nestora in Thessaloniki, according to an announcement by the Greek Police.

The three arrested individuals include a 26-year-old woman from Athens who was living temporarily in Thessaloniki and was located in Chania. It is suspected that she had travelled to Crete with the intention of erasing traces of herself following the crime.

The young woman, together with one of the two men, is alleged to have carried out the third arson attack, during which Vagia Nestora lost her life. Following their actions, they fled to the residence of the third person, who was arrested on charges of complicity.

All those arrested have connections to anarchist circles and are known to the authorities from previous cases. The detention of the two main suspects was carried out before the full identification of all those involved was completed, with the aim of preventing their escape.

Preliminary investigation findings indicate that the two perpetrators had visited the location at least twenty-four hours before the attack, with the intention of observing the Nestora family home and preparing their actions.

According to the evidence collected, a different group is responsible for the first two arson attacks. Investigations by the Counter-Terrorism Service continue at residences and other locations in both areas, and a further announcement from the authorities is expected.
