An eighteen-year-old German tourist on holiday in Malia has alleged that three men held him captive in a closed space inside a nightclub, beat him and robbed him. All those involved have been arrested.

A serious case of violent robbery and unlawful detention has been resolved in Malia, Heraklion, with an eighteen-year-old tourist from Germany as the victim. The young visitor approached the Chersonissos Police Department and filed a complaint against three individuals—two Greeks and a foreigner from Cameroon—alleging that they held him against his will in a closed room of a nightclub, struck him with punches and kicks to his body and head, and robbed him.
According to what the German alleged, everything started in the early morning hours of the previous Wednesday, inside a nightclub. The three men approached him and demanded a sum of money, equivalent to material damage that they claimed he had caused to an electronic device of theirs, together with a Norwegian companion of his. When the two tourists denied responsibility, the alleged perpetrators took them to a locked space within the establishment, prevented them from leaving and began striking them with punches and kicks all over their body and head, refusing to let them go until they paid the money.
After the two tourists left the scene, the German approached the police authorities and reported the three men for robbery, extortion and abduction. Police officers proceeded to arrest the two Greeks and the foreigner, who face serious charges.
However, in an unexpected development, the three arrested individuals filed a complaint in turn against the German for false accusation, resulting in the young tourist himself being arrested. Thus, all the protagonists of the case were placed in custody.
