Three minors arrested for arson using firecrackers in Psychiko
Three minors threw firecrackers at dry vegetation and caused a fire at the boundaries of Psychiko-Galatsi. Their parents were also arrested for neglect of supervision.
Arson with firecrackers in Psychiko: three minors and their parents in custody
Three minors were arrested for the fire that broke out yesterday at 18:50 in an outdoor area at the boundaries of Psychiko, the upper section of Veïkos forest and Galatsi, according to Naftemporiki. At the same time, their parents were arrested on charges of negligent supervision of minors.
Following the outbreak of the fire, officials from the Directorate for Combating Arson Crimes (ΔΑΕΕ) conducted an inspection at the scene, gathered evidence and took statements in order to determine the mechanism of fire causation.
In accordance with the findings of the preliminary investigation, the three minors threw firecrackers at dry plant material, which ignited immediately. During their examination, according to information from the Fire Service, they admitted their involvement and described their actions prior to the start of the fire, expressing remorse and seeking forgiveness.
The arrested individuals, together with the preliminary investigation material, are expected to be referred to the competent prosecutorial authorities for further legal action.
