New US strike on drug boat — three dead in Eastern Pacific
Three men were killed during a US strike on a drug trafficking vessel in the Eastern Pacific, announced the US armed forces early in the morning, as reported by ERT.
The strike was carried out on 29 May by the Joint Task Force Southern Spear, on the orders of the SOUTHCOM commander, General Francis L. Donovan. According to US authorities, information from the field confirmed that the vessel was operating on a known drug trafficking route and was operating under the control of organisations that have been designated terrorist.
Two days earlier, the US armed forces had announced that two "narco-terrorists" had lost their lives in a similar strike against a suspect vessel in the same area.
According to the CBS network, the total death toll from US strikes against vessels allegedly involved in drug trafficking in the Caribbean Sea and the Eastern Pacific Ocean has now reached at least 199 dead.
