Three arrested in Kipseli — drugs charges and concealment of corpse
The three arrested individuals in the apartment case in Kipseli were granted a deadline to enter their pleas on Wednesday, according to Dikastiko.gr. The prosecutor brought criminal charges against them for the felony of drug trafficking and a misdemeanour for failure to report the discovery of a corpse.
The medical-legal examination characterises the death of the infant found in the apartment as manslaughter. The police investigation into the circumstances of death is ongoing, and its results are expected to be submitted to the prosecuting authorities upon completion of the case file.
How the case came to light
The case began to come to light in the afternoon of the previous day, when the building manager visited the apartment due to outstanding financial matters. The couple had lived there for the past month, and drugs were being used on the premises.
The manager discovered that instead of the three people he knew about, there were six people in total in the apartment, including a 25-year-old Afghan. Neighbours reported that the children went outside on their own in the morning, the front door was frequently left open, and unknown persons waited outside making signals on their mobile phones.
When the manager attempted to seize the tenants' belongings to prevent them from leaving without settling their debts, violence erupted. The 25-year-old Afghan struck the 15-year-old pregnant girl, whom he claimed was his partner.
Arrest of three adults — findings in the apartment
The manager notified the Police, while passing members of the DIAS unit were informed of the situation and proceeded to make three arrests. A 43-year-old Greek man, his 38-year-old German partner — who is living in the country illegally — and the 25-year-old Afghan were arrested.
Inside the apartment, police found small quantities of drugs, a laptop, a camera and sexually explicit toys.
Minors with syphilis — 15-year-old pregnant girl
The 15-year-old pregnant girl and two boys, aged 9 and 12, were initially transferred to the Children's Hospital for medical examinations. The examinations ruled out sexual abuse for the two boys, but revealed that both the 9-year-old and the 15-year-old are suffering from syphilis.
The 15-year-old was subsequently transferred to "Alexandra" hospital for further monitoring of her pregnancy. The 12-year-old remains hospitalised for the necessary examinations.
The father had illegally taken the children from the Children's Hospital
A central aspect of the case is the previous history of the minors. A prosecutor's order for their removal from the family had been issued, and a year ago the children were transferred to the Children's Hospital. The father had illegally collected them from there, despite the prosecutor's order, and the authorities had been unable to locate them since.
