Three arrests for drug dealing at kiosk in central Athens

As part of checks to combat the distribution of substances in the city centre, police forces carried out the arrest of three people at a kiosk in Omonia on Monday, 8 June 2026.

According to an announcement by the prosecuting authorities, officers who were patrolling the area spotted a 64-year-old foreign national, an employee at the kiosk, delivering cannabis to a 29-year-old foreign national in exchange for money.

Following the discovery of the transaction, the authorities proceeded with the arrest of the seller and the buyer. At the same time, the 36-year-old owner of the kiosk was also arrested, who is Greek.

From the search of the shop, over 250 grammes of dried cannabis were found and seized, together with a small quantity of cannabis oil. The findings constitute evidence for the case file that was drawn up by the Omonia Crime Prosecution Department.

All three arrested individuals were brought before the prosecuting authorities, facing charges for violations of the law on narcotic substances.
