Greece's counter-terrorism service has arrested three people following a series of attacks with improvised incendiary devices on residences of individuals connected to the ruling New Democracy party, resulting in one death and four injuries.

Three people were arrested on Friday by Greece's counter-terrorism service as part of an investigation into a series of attacks with improvised incendiary devices on residences of individuals with ties to the ruling New Democracy (ND) party. In one of these attacks, a woman lost her life the previous week.
The victim was a 72-year-old, mother of an ND parliamentary candidate. She succumbed to her burns, while four other people were injured in one of three arson attacks that occurred in Thessaloniki over the current month. The perpetrators abandoned gas canisters outside the three properties that they had used to start fires, according to Reuters information relayed by Digi24.
The first two attacks caused explosions that left only material damage in their wake. However, the third attack injured five people, including the woman who later died in hospital.
The authorities clarified that the arrests on Friday were connected to the third arson attack, without providing further details. Two of the buildings that were targeted included flats where ND party members resided, whilst the third belonged to a local politician of the same party.
Greece has a long history of bomb and arson attacks against political figures. In recent years, however, such incidents have mostly resulted in limited material damage.
