New indictment in Marfin case: terrorist act and 24 attempted murder charges

New, more serious offences have been attributed to three remanded defendants in the case of Marfin bank, according to Newsit.gr. In addition to the felony of intentional homicide in concert and in concurrence, the defendants now face the offence under Article 186A — homicide in the context of a terrorist act — as well as attempted homicide in concurrence against 24 employees of the branch.

The three defendants — two men aged 42 and a 46-year-old resident of Brighton, Britain — are called on Tuesday, 13 October 2026 for supplementary statements before the investigating judge regarding the new indictment.

All three are in pre-trial detention since mid-July and early August respectively, held in the prisons of Malandrino, Nafplio and Korydallos.

According to the indictment, one of the two 42-year-old men is alleged to have smashed the glass door of the branch on Stadiou Street, while the other two are alleged to have participated in the organisation and implementation of the attack.

Solidarity activists and members of the anti-authoritarian movement have issued a call for support for the three defendants, for tomorrow at 10:00 at the courts of the former Evelpidon school.
